Congrats, Clippers!

Kudos the the LA Clippers, who ushered in the "hell frozen over" era with their first NBA playoff series win since they moved to LA in the '70's. So now who's a bigger Hollywood winner--the Clippers, for proving that decades of futility can be erased with a single winning campaign, or Brokeback Mountain, for proving that centuries of meticulously perfected cowboy masculinity can be overcome by one cinematic venture?

Point is, the twenty first century is a capricious time. What was, isn't necessarily anymore, and what is, probably won't be 10 minutes from now. Used to be, it was 50 cents for piping hot cup of all-you-can-drink java; now, you need a second mortgage for a venti frappaccino--and a financial analyst if you want skim. And who knows where the yellow brick road is leading--with coffee and gas prices skyrocketing the way they have been, we won't be able to be on the go for very much longer.

But that's okay, because the best things in life are still free...except cars, food, vacations, live music, relationships, education, housing, heat, riverdance, snowboarding, taking in a ballgame on a sunday afternoon, winning streaks in vegas, and pets.

here's to enjoying a good pair of slacks,
